What ages do you serve?
We focus on the needs of children, adolescents, and young adults, generally from ages 3 to 25. We also serve the related needs of their families. On a limited basis we see individual adults and couples.
What services do you provide?
We provide a full-range of Psychological Services including Individual Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy, Comprehensive Psychological Testing (Mental and Behavioral Health-related), Comprehensive Psychoeducational Testing (School and Education-related), Play Therapy, Animal-Assisted Therapy, and Family Support Therapy. We also provide Skill-Building Classes, such as Social Skills Training and Anger Management. View our currently scheduled Groups and Classes on our Events Calendar. We also provide Grief and Bereavement Therapy, with a special program for Pet Loss; for example, children grieving the passing of a cherished family pet, K-9 handlers mourning the loss of a service dog, etc.
What do you treat?
Our doctors are qualified to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions commonly affecting children, adolescents and young adults. These conditions typically include ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD & Trauma, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Adjustment Disorders, Emotional Disturbance, Selective Mutism, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Simple & Social Phobias, Gender & Sexual Health Issues, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Eating Disorders, and more.
What don't you treat?
We do not provide services for active substance abuse or for acute psychiatric needs. We do not provide Crisis Response, nor do we provide psychiatric emergency/PET services.
Do you offer services in Spanish?
Yes. Full services are available in English, Spanish, and Taiwanese. Our practice has highly culturally competent providers.
What type of therapy do you offer?
Our therapy is typically Cognitive Behavioral in nature. We provide Play Therapy and are the only local providers offering Animal-Assisted Therapy. We offer Individual and Group Therapy. Our therapeutic services are empirically based, scientifically sound, and practiced with the highest professional standards.
What would you expect from me or my child?
Your child's services will benefit greatly from the active, appropriate participation of both the child and yourself. Effective and successful psychotherapy is work--while the work can be fun, it sometimes can be difficult. Please expect you and your child to be active parts of the treatment process. Your combined involvement will include treatment planning, goal-setting, interventional homework activities, psycho-education, and completion of treatment-related paperwork. If you or your child are seeking services with the expectation of being passive observers, or if you or your child are expecting therapy to be a quick-fix with no personal investment or effort, then we are not the right therapists for your individual needs.
What about the privacy of my child?
All good relationships are built on a foundation of trust--therapy is no different. What a client discusses in therapy is legally protected as both confidential and privileged, which means the content is private and cannot normally be shared. There are limitations to confidentiality and privilege. Your therapist will detail for you in a way you and your child can understand the most common limitations to confidentiality as required by law. You and your child will be given the opportunity to ask questions to ensure you both understand confidentiality and its limits.
What are your hours? Are there evening or weekend sessions available?
Hours are by appointment. We offer convenient appointment times in the evenings and on weekends. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to ensure your child is seen promptly. Some services, like Groups and Classes, are pre-scheduled. View our Events Calendar for our currently scheduled groups and classes..
